ICE Detainee Release Records

To find someone released from the ICE detention network, search the federal immigration locator with the correct identity details and read the result within its limited time window. ICE custody is separate from Somerset County jail custody. A person may leave a county facility and enter immigration detention without entering the community. The county transfer record and ICE result answer different parts of that sequence. No ICE detention center or county ICE housing contract was verified in Somerset County, so this route applies only when case facts point to federal immigration custody.

ICE Custody Release Routes

ICE detention is federal civil immigration custody. It applies only when ICE assumes custody, not merely because a person leaves a Somerset or Morris jail. No ICE detention facility or county ICE housing contract was verified in Somerset County.

A county record may show transfer to immigration authorities. ICE ODLS then shows its own current or recent custody result. Both events are needed to describe the route accurately.

EventMeaning
County exit to ICETransfer, not community release
Current ODLS resultICE detention is reported
Recent ICE releaseExit from ICE within its display window

Note: An ICE handoff begins a separate federal civil custody episode rather than extending the Somerset jail record itself.

Confirm ICE Custody Release Records

Use ODLS when the county disposition, legal papers, or other reliable facts point to ICE. The strongest search uses the exact A-number and country of birth. A biographical search needs careful spelling and identity checks.

  1. Preserve the county exit disposition.
  2. Search the exact nine-digit A-number when known.
  3. Compare country of birth and identity details.
  4. Record whether ICE shows current detention or recent release.
  5. Do not treat a later no-result as proof of community release.
Important: ICE displays released-from-custody results for only the prior 60 days.

The Somerset release search explains how to obtain the earlier county transfer record.

ICE Custody Records Contact

ICE ODLS is the official public locator for current immigration detention and a limited set of recent releases. County staff cannot provide the federal immigration record, though the county exit entry may identify transfer to ICE.

No Somerset County ICE facility address or phone is supported by the research.

Use the locator while the event is recent and preserve the result. A later absence has little value after the published window.

ICE Locator Search Fields

The official ICE locator coverage page describes current detainees and the limited released-person window.

The captured ICE source supports the 60-day limit and shows why a later no-result cannot confirm community release.

Search with the exact nine-digit A-number and country of birth when available. The alternate biographical search is more prone to name and spelling error. ODLS excludes searches for people under eighteen.

Match the ICE event to the county transfer entry before describing the sequence.

County Exit Before ICE Custody

Somerset’s current jail map can route longer detention through Morris. Either physical custodian may create the exit entry that names ICE or another receiving agency. The Somerset court case remains separate from the later immigration detention.

Ask for actual exit date and time, disposition, releasing authority, and destination. If the record says transfer, preserve that term. It prevents an ICE custody change from being mistaken for a direct county community release.

A returned letter, missing roster entry, or failed search cannot replace those fields.

ICE Custody Release Destinations

An ICE release result describes departure from federal civil immigration detention. It does not by itself state whether the person remained in removal proceedings, obtained a particular immigration outcome, or entered another authority’s custody. ODLS should be read as a custody locator, not a full case docket.

Current detention
ICE reports an active placement within the locator system.
Recent ICE release
The person left ICE custody during the published 60-day period.
County-to-ICE transfer
Local custody ended as federal immigration detention began.
No locator result
Timing, age, spelling, or data limits may explain the absence.

County VINE notices and NJDOC records cover different agencies. Neither replaces ODLS for the immigration episode, and ODLS cannot supply the earlier Somerset release disposition.

Civil Detainers and Warrants

The authority behind an immigration-related hold matters. A civil ICE detainer requests action from another agency, while a judicial warrant comes through a court. New Jersey’s Immigrant Trust Directive guide limits continued local detention and release notification based on civil requests, subject to its exceptions, and requires notice for specified requests.

Somerset has no verified ICE facility or local ICE housing agreement. The county release record should first identify whether an immigration handoff occurred. If it did, ODLS can document the later federal custody state while the result remains within its public window.

A county departure into ICE detention is a custodial transfer. An eventual ICE release is a separate event with its own date and record.

After ICE Custody Release

An ODLS released result confirms only an exit from ICE custody during the locator window. It does not establish the earlier county release reason or the final immigration case result.

Save the displayed date while it remains available. Reconcile it with the county transfer record. Once 60 days pass, absence from ODLS says little about the person’s prior detention.

BOP, NJDOC, and county databases cover different systems and do not substitute for this immigration record.

ICE Release Window Limits

ODLS includes current detainees and people released from ICE custody within the prior 60 days. Timing is central. A result saved during that window can document an ICE exit. A search made later may return nothing even though detention occurred. The A-number route needs an exact nine-digit number and country of birth. Biographical searches can fail because of spelling, name order, or incomplete details. Searches for people under eighteen are excluded. None of these limits proves release.

If no result appears, return to the county transfer record and immigration papers. Ask which identifier supports the handoff. The public locator is useful, but it is not a permanent custody archive. Save the result while it remains available and do not infer a final immigration outcome from a custody status alone.

Note: Save a released ICE result promptly because ODLS stops displaying that release after its limited public window.

New Jersey ICE Release Rules

New Jersey’s Trust Directive says local authorities do not continue detention solely on a civil ICE detainer and restricts release notice except in defined cases. A judicial warrant is different. The detained person must receive notice of specified ICE requests. These rules provide context for a Somerset or Morris exit, but they do not predict the immigration case.

No official Somerset ICE housing contract was found. ICE checks should follow evidence in the named case. A county exit to ICE is a transfer. An ICE released result later confirms only the end of ICE custody during the locator window. The earlier county reason and later immigration result remain separate.

BOP, NJDOC, county, and ICE databases cannot substitute for each other. State the authority and event each record actually proves.

ICE and County Record Pairing

The county record should state whether Somerset or Morris released the person to the community or transferred the person to another authority. ODLS then answers whether ICE reports current detention or a recent release. The two sources should be placed in time order. A county exit followed by an ICE entry is continued custody across agencies.

Release from ICE is also narrower than the final immigration outcome. ODLS is a custody locator, not a complete immigration court docket. Preserve the date and agency wording without adding conclusions the result does not support. When an A-number is unknown, biographical search may help, but common names require extra care.

The Trust Directive’s distinction between a civil detainer and a judicial warrant is central. Do not use the terms as synonyms. Defined exceptions can matter, so the actual county record and legal process control the individual result.

Note: Preserve the search date, exact status wording, A-number used, and named facility when documenting an ICE custody result.

Somerset ICE Facility Map

The current Somerset custody map began in June 2024. Somerset County Jail now functions as a limited short-term court hub, Morris County Correctional Facility houses longer-term Somerset detainees under an agreement through May 2029, and Middlesex County Adult Correction Center was the interim destination before Morris. No ICE detention facility or ICE housing contract was verified in Somerset County.

That history makes a named destination essential. Movement from Somerset to Morris or the earlier move to Middlesex is an intercounty transfer, not ICE custody. ODLS becomes relevant only when the local exit record, a federal document, or another reliable source identifies ICE as the receiving authority. The county entry and ICE result should then be read in sequence so neither transfer is described as community release.

Note: No verified ICE detention site or ICE housing agreement exists within the Somerset County facility map.
